A one-step new process of the preparation of 2-sec-butyl-4,6-dinitrophenol(DNBP) with 2-sec-butylphenol and nitric acid as raw materials and methane sulfonic acid as catalyst is proposed in this paper.

New process of synthesizing 2-sec-butyl-4,6-dinitrophenol (DNBP) with 2-sec-butylphenol as raw material and nitric acid as the nitration agent is reported.
